Our current art show ends this week!
If you havent had a chance to come in and see the work of Syracuse artist Virginia Sinesi, you only have a few more days to do so. Our next show, Graphic Memoir, a display of the work of Elizabeth Cohen’s Fall 2011 Memoir class at SUNY Plattsburgh, will be having its opening reception this Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Our current art show has garnered some very positive reactions, and the pieces are priced to move. Get over this week and check it out!
New shirts available at ROTA!

That’s right folks, we have a whole new batch of shirts here at ROTA. We’ve gotten into the habit of recycling old blank clothing and having ROTA member Jeremy Colwell screen print his own ROTA design onto them. The shirts are $10, with $5 going to ROTA and $5 going to Jeremy. We have a whole bunch of colors, cuts and sizes, so come on over and check them out!
ATTN: Before poetry night tonight…
“To everyone who cares about the arts and our community: the Partnership for Community Development will host “The State of the Arts” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Frances and Hyman Krinovitz Recital Hall in Hawkins Hall at Plattsburgh State. Members of the partnership will gather for a discussion of the role cultural and artistic activities can have on the social and economic lives of area residents.
ROTA is trying to get a group of folks together to attend this event and try to share what we’ve been doing this past year or so, which is really the culmination of many years of hard work from many different individuals. We received a formal invitation to this event earlier today, which was a great gesture, and we’re very excited to attend and to hopefully build a stronger coalition with the other entities involved in the arts here. If you can make it, please come out and show your support! And if not, there will be more chances soon to address these issues in a public forum- we’ll keep you posted!”
Then at 7:30 we will be opening up our doors for the next installment of our biweekly Open Stage/Poetry Night. Come by at 7:30 with songs, words, poems, rants or what have you, or feel free to sit in and listen while enjoying some free coffee.
